A 44-year-old man has also been charged with the murder of 43-year-old Gerard McMahon on January 18 last on Lenihan Avenue.
Paul Colbert, Lenihan Avenue, appeared before a special sitting of Limerick District Court after his nephew Sean Flanagan, was charged last week. Garda Paul Crowley gave evidence of the arrest charge and caution of the accused, who was said to have made no reply to the charge when a true copy of the charge of murder, contrary to common law, was handed to him.
Ted McCarthy, solicitor, was appointed as legal aid, and Judge Eamon O’Brien noted that bail was a matter for the High Court.
The accused was remanded in custody to appear again this week via video link from Limerick Prison.
His nephew, Sean Flanagan, was also charged with the murder of Gerard McMahon who died from multiple stab wounds at the doorway of a house on Lenihan Avenue last month.
Ian Flanagan, brother to Sean Flanagan, was charged with impeding the murder investigation at Limerick District Court last week.
