Public consultation for septic tank standards PDF Print E-mail

MINISTER for Environment, Community and Local Government Phil Hogan TD has announced there will be public consultation on septic tanks performance standards. The Minister issued the news during the Select Sub-Committee on Environment, Community and Local Government on foot of the legislation being enacted next week. “Before finalising the regulations on performance standards, including the requirements for maintenance and desludging, there will be a period of public consultation,” he stated.

DUE to blustery torrential weather, households and businesses and farms in Limerick’s hinterland were affected by saturated land or outright flooding - some for two years running. Many of theses properties were hit in the bad flooding of 2009 and 2010 and will have no wish to undergo a similar ordeal of loss of business, expensive refurbishment and the temporary displacement of home/ licensed company address.

Surveyors publish guide for apartment owners re MUD Act 2011 PDF Print E-mail

* The €100 annual Household Charge is introduced for 2012, payable before March 31 by house owners and landlords of private rented properties. Refer to coming website www.householdcharge.ie for payment process. Note there will be incremental fines layered on in successive months - 10 per cent for late payment between April and June 30; 20 per cent penalty if between six and 12 months late.

New proposals affect 440,000 septic tank owners PDF Print E-mail

MINISTER for Environment, Community and Local Government, Phil Hogan has outlined the registration and inspection regime for septic tanks corresponding to a European Court of Justice (ECJ) in October 2009 directive against Ireland. Lack of compliance by 2013 on our part could lead to penalties and fines of almost €10mn annually. Back in July this year, the European Commission applied to the Court to have fines imposed on Ireland for failing to comply with the original ECJ ruling.
