ADDRESSING media at a press briefing on Monday, Supt Frank O'Brien said that gardai are investigating the death and disappearance of 48-year-old Francis Greene after a man's body was discovered last weekend close to the banks of the Shannon River at Cratloe.

A walker in the Portdrine area discovered the body in the late afternoon.

The remains were removed to the Mid Western Regional Hospital where a postmortem examination was carried out.

Missing from his apartment home on Hartstonge Street, gardai are wishing to speak to anyone in the area of Mr Green's home on Saturday November 27 last.
