The centre, with the ability to handle over four million calls each year to its helpdesk and customer service agents, was also named overall winner of The Contact Centre of the Year for its Customer Care Centre based in Plassey, Limerick, and Best Technical Support Centre / Helpdesk. O2 employs almost 500 people in its Customer Care Centre. Commenting, Rod Coleman, head of customer care - Telefonica O2 Ireland, said, “This is an amazing achievement for everyone in O2 Customer Care, and a real credit to Limerick where we are based. It speaks volumes for the fantastic people we have working for us and for the way in which they interact with our customers on a daily basis. Overall, the judges said they were impressed with O2's dedication to excellent customer experience, our commitment to using best of breed technology and our drive to continuously improve our businesses processes, making O2 Customer Care the best in the country”. The Irish Contact Centre and Shared Services Centre Awards, are organised by the Contact Centre Managers Association (CCMA).
