Jet puncture closes Shannon

SHANNON Airport was closed for a time on Monday when a plane received a punctured tyre while taxiing on the runway.
The aircraft an Omni Air International DC9 had to be fixed on the airstrip, which took engineers 50 minutes to complete.

All flights were prevented from take-off or landing whilst the burst tyre was changed.
Five flights were delayed and one Ryanair flight was diverted to Cork during the incident.
