FF announce Castleconnell candidates

FIVE candidates have been selected by Fianna Fáil to contest the Castleconnell electoral area in next year’s Local Elections.  
Cllr. Noel Gleeson was first elected 1985 and has contested every election since. Originally from Cappamore he is a farmer and businessman. He is also involved in a variety of local organisations.

These include serving as treasurer of Cappamore Community Council, Vice President of Cappamore Agricultural Show and he is on the Board of Management of Cappamore Day Care Centre which incorporates the Daughters of Charity.  He is also a lifelong member and former officer of Cappamore GAA.  
Mr. Joseph Meagher is a former Limerick County Councillor having served from 1999 – 2004.  Based in Oola he works as a Community Welfare Officer and Postmaster in the local area.  A former county footballer, Mr. Meagher is also National Chairman of the Civil Defence Board, Chairman of Oola Community Alert and Chairman of St. Anthony’s Graveyard Company.  
Cllr. Noreen Ryan has been a member of Limerick County Council since being elected in 1999.  Based in Castleconnell she is a full time public representative and homemaker.  She is also a member of the Ahane Hurling Club.  
Brian Stokes, 24, is the youngest member of the Fianna Fáil ticket in Castleconnell.  He is parliamentary assistant to local Minister for State, Peter Power, a position he has held for several years.  He has also worked in Brussels with Munster MEP Brian Crowley. Originally from Oola, Mr. Stokes is now based in Castletroy.  He is a member of the Croom branch of Macra na Feirme and is a keenly involved with the local GAA.  
Cllr. Eddie Wade has been a member of Limerick County Council since 1979 and was a former TD for Limerick East.  Based in Drombanna, he is a full time public representative and previously worked as a salesman.  A well known GAA official, Cllr. Wade is a GAA officer with the Limerick County GAA board, a former Limerick hurling selector and is a former Chairman and secretary of South Liberties GAA.
