Pipe bombs made safe

A CONTROLLED explosion was carried out on at least two suspicious devices by the army bomb disposal unit over the weekend.

It is understood a pipe bomb was found in a deserted house in the Rathuard area of Ballysheedy.

The discovery was made while Gardai conducted searches in the area as part of their ongoing investigations into Limerick criminal gangs.
