Art Gallery ideal for polling -Leddin

THE City Gallery of Art on Pery Square should be used as a polling station in the upcoming elections, says Labourโ€™s Cllr Joe Leddin.

He has written to the county registrar, Pat Meighan, making this request.

โ€œThis magnificent building is centrally located in the city and also has provision for disabled access.

โ€œIt was previously used as a polling station, and as a building it is well known and recognised by the people of Limerick, and since I started canvassing, Iโ€™ve met many elderly people in the Hyde Road, Edward Street, and Careyโ€™s Road area who normally voted in the Boherbouy Band Hall.

โ€œBut if the hall is not available, many of these will have to travel to the Model School to cast their voteโ€.

He is also asking the county registrar to examine the suitability of such buildings as the CIE Club in Upper Careyโ€™s Road.

โ€œIโ€™m also calling on all community and sporting organisations that may have a suitable premises available on Friday, June 5, to contact the county registrar and discuss the possibility of their building being usedโ€.
