A NEW 183-bed co-located hospital to be built on grounds leased from the Mid-West Regional Hospital has been granted planning permission.The new hospital will represent an investment of almost €250m from private healthcare company Beacon Medical Group (BMG) who put the project together.
The Limerick Post understands the new hospital will employ 460 full-time staff when fully operational, with a further indirect workforce of 690. Around 620 construction workers will be engaged at the building stage.
The new hospital will accommodate up to 9,400 inpatients and 40,000 outpatients per year.
