He was proposed by party colleague, Cllr Ger Fahy and seconded by Cllr Michael Hourigan.
The new Mayor has promised to put Limerick’s regeneration uppermost in his determination and stresses the need for the city’s boundary extension.
He told the Limerick Post he will step down as chairperson of the joint policing committee in September.
