KILKENNY rockers Myp Et Jeep are not to be missed when they take to the stage Upstairs in Dolanโs for Green and Live Sessions 17 on Thursday August 27. They will be performing tracks from their critically acclaimed debut album โBlood Is Not Enoughโ.
The album released in March of this year on Reekus Records received a four-star review from Hot Press and โAlbum of the Weekโ on Larry Goganโs 2FM show. Myp Et Jeepโs sound ranges from powerful hook laden rock to epic in their string accompanied ballads.
The four-piece played the IMRO Showcase Tour also this year and are busy with festivals throughout this summer. Also on the bill is true pop outsider, Herm, aka Ballinasloe man Kevin Connolly.
Musically, Connolly navigates a woozy course between Tom Waits, early Pavement and Slint (while giving the occasional nod in the direction of Nick Cave, Spiritualized and The Beatles). Completing the line-up for Green and Live Sessions 17 is thrilling local act Laminate Reno. Laminate Reno are a three-piece based in Limerick, playing what they call Mechno, a high energy hybrid of post-rock, jungle, and rave. The members are Sรญ, on vocals and synth, Edel on bass, and Don on guitars and programming.
All three used to play in electronica unit End/Fin/Dead, and Sรญ is well-known around the City for her beautiful solo shows with harp and piano. The band are currently recording their first demo, playing as many gigs as possible, and writing new material. Their live show has been described as โlike watching Run Lola Run at double speedโ. The trio have played with Creeping Nobodies, Ten Past Seven, Kyon, Elk and Hooray For Humans Doors open at 8pm and admission is free. Green and Live is broadcast on Limerick Live 95FM every Friday between 10pm and midnight with presenter Alan Jacques.
