DIVERS have found the body of a 17-year-old girl missing for nearly a week.

The girl’s body was discovered near Barrington’s Pier soon after 1pm on Saturday.

The 17-year-old entered the river at Sarsfield Bridge on Sunday last which led to a huge search of the river throughout the week by civil defence search teams.

Garda divers and the Shannon based search and rescue helicopter had also been involved in the search.

The teen’s body was taken to the Mid Western Regional Hospital in Dooradoyle where a postmortem examination was carried out.
