DPP directions sought for murder accused

APPEARING in Limerick District Court via video link from Limerick Prison, dressed in a Lions Rugby jacket, waving and making gestures to the camera, 19-year-old Kenneth Collopy of Kilonan Ballysimon was notified by the DPP and the State, that a Book of Evidence was being prepared in relation to the murder of Daniel Fitzgerald at Cloughdromin, Ballysimon on December 8 last.

Collopy, the accused, was formally charged, last Monday at 9.15pm at Roxboro Road Garda Station by Detective Garda Dave Nolan, with the alleged murder of the 24-year-old carpenter at dead man’s residence in Ballysimon.

John Herbert was appointed as legal aid for the accused.

Inspector Seamus Gallagher sought an adjournment until December 30 next to await the directions of the DPP.

Judge Aeneas McCarthy remanded Kenneth Collopy in continuing custody to the governor of Limerick Prison to reappear in court on that date via video link.
