Gardai appeal for calm following Ennis Road shooting

LIMERICK Gardaí have appealed for calm following the shooting of 35-year old father-of-two Daniel Treacy at Topaz shop and petrol station on the Ennis Road, on Monday.

Superintendent Frank O’ Brien said that the man was only known to gardai in the context that his family had been subject to threat. He said: “We are appealing for witnesses and we are also appealing to people not to do anything and leave the matter to the garda”.

One man in his late 20s was arrested shortly after the incident and is currently being detained under the provisions of Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act 2007 in Mayorstone Garda Station.
