Cookies, Ireland and Munster all in action

-

THIS week is jam packed with rugby action as Munster, Ireland and Young Munster are all in action. Declan Kidney has stayed with the same team for this Saturdays encounter against Scotland. The win against Wales did throw up a few selection questions, but the Cork native has stuck with the same match day 22.

This of course means that players such as Marcus Horan and Peter Stringer are available for Munster’s rearranged game against the Scarlets at Musgrave Park on Thursday night.

The reds had a nightmare performance against the Newport Gwent Dragons last time out so a win this Thursday is vital if top four dreams are to be realised. As the six nations draw to a close, the Munster season is taking shape. Home Magners league games against Scarlets, Glasgow and of course Leinster all precede the Heineken Cup quarter final against Northampton in April.

On the domestic front, Young Munsters take on UCC in the Munster Senior Cup final on Sunday in Musgrave Park, kick off is at 2.30. After securing promotion to the top division for next season, with a chance still of making the final four in the AIL league, while also having the charity cup in the locker, the Cookies are flying high this season.

Coached by former Munster player Mike Prendergast the Greenfields side have been without doubt the form side in Limerick rugby this season.

The Limerick Post would like to wish all the teams playing sports this weekend all the best of luck. The days are getting longer. There are now some trophies to collect.
