Pubs will be open Good Friday for Munster match

Publicans have been granted a special exemption to open on Good Friday.
Judge Tom O’Donnell has ruled City pubs can open from 6pm to 11.30pm on Good Friday. Pubs  in Castletroy, Raheen, Dooradoyle, Corbally and Annacotty are also allowed to open.
They had sought the exemption to accommodate over 26,000 people who will attend the Munster and Leinster rugby match at Thomond Park.

He also noted that Thomond Park Stadium has a special stadium licence and they would be  to serving drinks from when they open their doors until after the match.

The judge said he was also making the ruling for health and safety reasons when thousands of people would be leaving Thomond Park directly after the game.
He said the pubs could stay open from 6pm until 11.30pm that night.
The State had opposed the application by the publicans. See video below…
