Dylan weekend will kick off at Angler’s Rest

THE 2nd annual Bobfest will happen on the grounds of the Anglers Rest in Clonlara, Co. Clare this Summer, taking place on Saturday July 3, the day before the man himself plays in Thomond Park.

BobFest is a celebration of Bob Dylan’s music, an outdoor event that will feature musicians playing and singing Bob’s songs as well as the screening of some Dylan-related visuals. Limerick Post caught up with event organiser, Keith Forde to find out more Limerick Post: This is the second Bobfest event, tell us about the first one.

Kieth Forde: “We had it in a place called Toor, It’s about 6 miles past Newport. It was an epic night, People travelled from all over the country for it. Myself and my mate Brian Fitzgerald put it together. It’s gonna be bigger and better this year, especially with the man himself playing in Limerick the next day”
LP: What can we expect at Bobfest 2010?
KF: “A relaxed, chilled out atmosphere. Music, Poetry, Visuals. People with a common interest getting together and having a good time. We are providing free camping, so the party will go on all night!
LP: What acts have you confirmed so far?
KF: “So far there’s: Me with a band, Siobhan O’Brien, Brendan Markham, a ska girl group called ‘Dem Fools’ from Dublin and a country Singer/Songwriter from Longford called Rory Lennon. And more to be announced…”
LP: What does the music of Bob Dylan mean to you?
KF: “I think he is the greatest singer/songwriter ever. In my opinion, nobody can deliver a vocal like him, I believe him when he sings.”
LP: Aiken promotions are looking for a local band to kick off the Dylan gig in Thomond Park, will you be putting your name in the hat for the opening slot?
KF: “Yes definitely, I’d love to do that, It would be unreal. A dream come true”
With Thomond Park just 15mins drive from BobFest, Keith reckons that “it’s an ideal spot to camp out the night before Dylan headlines and enjoy the build-up to the weekend festivities!” If you’re a musician and you have a love of Dylan, a musical instrument and some songs to sing or you just want to enjoy this one day mini festival, you can get in contact with Bobfest 2010 at myspace.com/bobfestireland or just contact the Angler’s Rest Bar.
