Woman dies after city centre fall

A woman in her twenties has died following a fall from a building on Clare Street in Limerick City Centre early this morning.

She was found impaled on railings outside of an apartment block at approximately 12.30am and was taken to Mid Western Regional Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

It is believed that the woman fell from an upstairs window and the scene has now been preserved for technical examination.

A post mortem investigation will be carried out later today by State Pathologist Dr Marie Cassidy.

Henry Street Gardaí are carrying out a standard investigation of the incident.
