Limerick students prepare for art college

Six students from the Vocational Training Opportunities Scheme (VTOS), part of Limerick City Adult Education Service, have been offered places at Limerick School of Art and Design this Autumn.

The students have recently completed the Art and Design course in the  Adult Education College.

Tutor at the VTOS course Jayne Foley is delighted with their progress: “The aim of VTOS is to encourage people of all ages to return to education. VTOS offers students a period of time to study on courses that interest them – in this case Art and Design – and this gives them the opportunity to assess whether to take these subjects onto further education or to go into the workplace with the skills they have developed”.

The students Jodie Ahern, Gillian Burns, Rosaleen Hanley,  Kate O’Loughlin and brother and sister Billy and Michelle Sheehy are all from the city and county of Limerick. Their VTOS course consisted of drawing, painting, design, sculpture and computer arts and some of the students studied Leaving Certificate Art as part of their course.
