Sean’s final shout for Tess

AS Ireland’s first man to successfully row the Atlantic, Sean McGowan has settled back into home and family life albeit with the use of two of his fingers on his left hand still restricted after his epic voyage. Now, he wants to bring Tess, his Ocean rowing boat back from Southampton to show and tell the Limerick people of their story to date.

“It would be great to get it back in Limerick before she is sold”, said Sean.

Unfortunately, interest has not come from any Irish source, though enquiries have come from abroad.

“Tess was bought through a Credit Union loan and they think she still has four wheels under her. That debt has to be repaid, but with interest from both UK and France, I’d love to get it back for a couple of weeks before she is repatriated across the water. I hope that I can have her displayed here for a few weeks and I can visit and tell the people of the story”.

He needs to raise just €1,500 to get “Tess”, the vessel in which this proud Limerick man rowed into the history books, back to Limerick for one last time.
