Apply for back to school allowance early

LIMERICK parents are being urged to apply for the back to school clothing and footwear allowance ahead of the September 30 cut off.

Kieran Oโ€™Donnell TD, urged them to avail of the grant in light of recent reports on the cost of sending a child to their first year of secondary.

โ€œThe news that it costs parents on average โ‚ฌ815 per child for their first year in secondary school is not a surprise to parents, but many people are now eligible for the Back to School Clothing and Footwear Allowance, and may never have applied for the scheme in the past,โ€ said the deputy.
