Blues face Youths tonight

Limerick FC are in Airtricity League action at home to Wexford Youths this Thursday night October 7 at 7.45pm in Jackman Park. The rearranged fixtures is due to the International match against Russia on Friday night. The SuperBlues are currently fifth in the table five points behind Shelbourne in third spot with four league games left.  Speaking this week, Limerick FC manager Pat Scully said, “We won eventually against Salthill Devon after going behind early once more, these early goals are killing us and we cannot give away soft early goals in any of our remaining four fixtures starting with Wexford Youths on Thursday night. We will only have to hope that we won’t have three goals in a row ruled out and two stonewall penalties denied as we did against Salthill Devon when we face Wexford”. Fighting words then from Scully as Limercik look to get back in the playoff race. This week’s game is Limerick’s second last home game of the season. With trips to Monaghan and Athlone still to come, Limerick need to secure the three points this weekend against seventh placed Wexford Youths. Limerick have won one and lost one to Wexford already this season. A 2-0 win at home in April, with goals from Thomas Lyons (22), Robbie Kelleher (78) was followed by a 5-3 loss away. Proving that this Thursday night’s game will not be an easy win.
