Fighting O’Sullivans back Limerick FC

THE O’Sullivan trio, Dick, chairman Bord na gCon, Pat, chairman, Limerick FC, and local TD Jan, have roles to play in backing Limerick FC for a return to the Markets Field. There were words of encouragement for the soccer club at the opening of the new greyhound stadium last weekend. Bord na gCon chairman Dick O’Sullivan told his namesake, Pat, that everything possible would be done to assist the club.

Limerick have submitted a tender for the Markets Field, which had been home to League of Ireland soccer up to 1984. “I was very appreciative of what was said…it was very positive and we remain hopeful,” Pat O’Sullivan, who was a special guest at the opening, later told the Limerick Post.

He thanked the Bord na gCon chairman for his comment.
“Dick and the Bord na gCon people have shown an appreciation of the work we are doing at Limerick FC. Now that we have entered the tendering process, we will wait and see the outcome”.
Meanwhile, Jan O’Sullivan has rowed in behind the club, which she has supported with her attendance at both Hogan Park and Jackman Park over the years. “Pat is dedicated to Limerick FC and should be given all the encouragement needed. I will be in there behind him”.                   See page 32.
