Chamber back Brosnan report

LIMERICK Chamber has backed the implementation of the Brosnan report, stating that it will drag the city out of decline.
It expressed its belief that the local economy would remain stagnant and possibly decline if recommendations of Denis Brosnan’s ‘Renewing Local Government in Limerick’ report are not implement.

Chamber President Kieran MacSweeney said that implementation of the Brosnan Report is a “unique opportunity for both Limerick City and the Mid-West region”.
The campaign is rallying the support the local business community and the general public through an online petition at www.limerickchamber.ie.

“The prospect of the status quo being retained here in Limerick is unthinkable. It would further deepen our economic decline, leave the city trailing other urban centres in terms of job creation potential and, ultimately, set us back decades”, said Mr MacSweeney.

“We have a duty and responsibility to grab this opportunity and create a legacy for future generations.
“Twenty years ago Limerick was the envy of Cork and Galway but the opposite now applies”.
