Fire crews deal with city blazes

LIMERICK City Fire services dealt with a number of fires in the area on Sunday night last.

Three units attended a fire at Lenihan Avenue in the Prospect area of the city in the early hours and quickly brought the blaze under control. It is believed that the fire broke out in an upstairs bedroom of the house but no one was injured in the blaze.

Earlier, five units of the fire service attended an apartment block in the Mount Kennett/Henry Street area of the city where a blaze forced up to 50 apartments to be evacuated. Similarly, the fire is believed to have started in a bedroom earlier in the evening but was brought under control within an hour.
