A NEW recycling Bring Bank has located on the corner of Lord Edward Street and Wolfe Tone Street.
The facility will take glass, aluminium cans and food cans – the aluminium and food cans will be collected together in the blue recycling can bank.
Mayor Maria Byrne has encouraged people to use the bring bank.

The Environment Department in City Hall has confirmed that last year approximately 800โtonnes of glass, 25 tonnes of drink cansโandโ14 tonnes ofโsteel cansโwere collected via the city bring banks.
โRecycling ratesโcontinue to increase across the countryโbut there is no room for complacency, as we recycle only one in five aluminium cans in Ireland,โ says a spokesperson
โThere areโplenty of reasons why we should try to recycleโmore – recycling aluminium cans saves 95% ofโthe energy used to produce aluminium from raw materials. Recycling one aluminium can saves enough energy to run a television for three hours – it is worth considering that โglass is 100% recyclable and can be recycled forever with no loss in qualityโ.
The statistics show that on average an Irish family recycles around 500 glass bottles and jars each year.
