Gardaí warn of ATM scam

A SCAM relating to ATM machines is being investigated by Henry Street gardaí.
An apparatus is placed within the dispenser that withholds money as it is about to be dispensed.
The customer believes that the machine is not working and leaves.

The thief can then remove the apparatus along with the money dispensed.

A garda spokesperson said that the crime unit  have come across this scam frequently of late.

“A quick word of advice to people using ATM’s is to ensure that if such a situation arises, contact the relevant bank or the gardaí by phone and remain with the machine until assistance arrives”.
