Death of Elaine Fagan

THE death has occurred of Elaine Fagan, aged 25 and who was one of the worldโ€™s oldest survivors of the rare disease Edwardโ€™s Syndrome.
Edwardโ€™s Syndrome, or Trisomy 18 as it is formally known, is a rare chromosome abnormality associated with both extreme mental and physical disorders.
She is survived by her parents, Michael and Kay, sister Nicola and brothers David and Brian.

Michael Fagan, well-known hotelier, told Limerick Post last year that Elaine attended St Vincentโ€™s, Lisnagry, on a daily basis where a combination of care she received at school and home helped prolong her life.
The funeral Mass was held at St Josephโ€™s Church, Castleconnell, on this Wednesday.
