THE death has occurred of Elaine Fagan, aged 25 and who was one of the worldโs oldest survivors of the rare disease Edwardโs Syndrome.
Edwardโs Syndrome, or Trisomy 18 as it is formally known, is a rare chromosome abnormality associated with both extreme mental and physical disorders.
She is survived by her parents, Michael and Kay, sister Nicola and brothers David and Brian.
Michael Fagan, well-known hotelier, told Limerick Post last year that Elaine attended St Vincentโs, Lisnagry, on a daily basis where a combination of care she received at school and home helped prolong her life.
The funeral Mass was held at St Josephโs Church, Castleconnell, on this Wednesday.
