Four Munster players added to Irish squad

FOUR Munster players have been added to the Irish rugby squad ahead of next weekend’s battle with Scotland at Murrayfield in the RBS Six Nations Championship.

Mick O’Driscoll, Donnacha Ryan, Denis Hurley and Tony Buckley are four of eight players that have been drafted into the Ireland squad and added to the match 22 that were on duty in the last round of the RBS 6 Nations Championship.

Andrew Trimble returned to competitive action for his province at the weekend following his hand injury and is included in the squad for this week’s preparations ahead of the game against Scotland in Edinburgh.

Tommy Bowe also returned to play for his club Ospreys after recovering from his knee injury that has kept him out of the opening two rounds of the championship and has been named in the squad.

Gavin Duffy also came through unscathed from his provincial game in the Magners League and is included with Denis Hurley in the backs.

Second rows Mick O’Driscoll and Donnacha Ryan have also been called up as have Tony Buckley, who played for Munster after returning from a hip injury, and back row Rhys Ruddock.

The Ireland squad gathered in Dublin this week.
