Over 65s must pay full passport fee

ACTIVE Retirement Ireland has criticised the reintroduction of full passport fees for over-65s.  According to the organisation, the Government must now consider ways of ensuring the renewal of passports does not become overly costly for older people.

Passport fees were scrapped for over-65s in 2005, when the cost of gaining or renewing a passport was €25.  Full fees – at the current rate of €80 – were reintroduced for older people this week.
