Classical and Asian repertoire for Ballet Manila

BALLET Manila, which has toured across the world with stunning productions, will visit Limerick for the first time this Summer. The tour is supported by the Irish based Detail Design production company, which will take Ballet Manila on a four night tour through Ireland, including our own UCH on Tuesday July 5.

‘East Meets West’ is a breathtaking show bringing together the best in Russian inspired ballet with an exotic Asian twist. Look forward also to  fabulous costumes and dance works inspired by various Asian martial arts, and Sayo sa Pamlang.
Ballet Manila brings with it The Philippines’  prima ballerina, Lisa Macuja-Elizalde, who is delighted to be performing here for the first time.  The dance show itself will present excerpts from Romeo and Juliet; a martial arts dance, Arnis; Dulcis, a festive number of courtship and traditions and Sotto Voce, which will “astound with furious non-stop pointe work”.
Welcoming this big production’s commitment  to visit this country, “This is a rare opportunity to experience a wonderful evening of classical, contemporary, neo classical and Filipino ballet,” says the Philippine Ambassador to Ireland, Ariel Y. Abadilla.
