The city south councillor was elected unopposed at a meeting of the city council in City Hall on Monday night. Proposed by Cllr Diarmuid Scully, leader of FG on the council, his nomination was seconded by Cllr Kevin Kiely (Ind).
Cllr Kiely was voted Deputy Mayor, securing nine votes to eight votes for the Independent councillor, Kathleen Leddin.
