Final countdown on in Pitch for Shane

THE final countdown is on in the Pitch for Shane project, an art installation tribute to the late Shane Geoghegan, who was murdered in November, 2008. To mark the third anniversary of Shaneโ€™s death, his family invited the public to make a terracotta clay figure in his memory and as a tribute to all innocent victims touched by violence. The minimum target of 10,000 figures has been reached, with the help of schools, colleges and individuals around Limerick.

Members of the public have been able to make the clay figures every Saturday at the Milk Market and this will wind up this week, on Saturday, October 8, from 10am to 1.30pm.
The figures must be able to stand without support and are required to be four to six inches in height.
The installation will be completed on November 9, three years to the day that Shane was killed in a case of mistaken identity.
