Five arrested and questioned over double murder

FIVE people have been arrested in connection with the murders of Des Kelly and Breda Waters at a house in O’Malley Park on January 8 last. Three males, two in their 30s and one juvenille, have been detained for questioning this Tuesday morning while two females, one teenager and another in her late 50s, are in custody under the provisions of Section 30 of the Offences against the State Act 1939.

The five are detained at Roxboro, Henry Street, Mayorstone and Bruff Garda Stations after gardai arrested them as part of a planned operation.

While two men are currently before the courts charged in connection with the investigation, the operation as a whole is continuing.

23-year-old Des Kelly and his 28-year-old girlfriend Breda Waters were shot at a house in O’Malley Park in the early hours of the morning after a party in what was described locally as a “double tragedy”. Both suffered a gunshot wound each to the head.
