Cllr Kathleen becomes member of museum company

DESPITE contributing to the funding of the Hunt Museum, Limerick City Council has not been represented in the membership of the Hunt Museum Company.
At a meeting of the city council this week, the Mayor of Limerick, Cllr Jim Long, nominated Cllr Kathleen Leddin, and this was unanimously agreed by the city councillors.
in a recent letter from the chairman of the Board of the Hunt Museum, Niall Greene, the mayor was reminded that the council “has the right to nominate one person for admission to membership of the company.

“The City Council has not had a nominee in membership for many years and it is a deficiency I would like to see rectified.
“The duties of membership are not onerous but the role of the members is important in the overall governance of the company and the maintenance of accountability and transparency. – we would very much welcome a nomination, particularly as the city council contributes to the funding of the Hunt Museum”.
