Escapism by the bucket load

YOU are guaranteed to find escapism by the bucket load in Men in Black 3, the third in the successful franchise, and if the plot about time travel is audacious, it offers frivolous fun and a deal of substance.  The familiar world of MiB is recreated in full, its offbeat aliens as intriguing and amusing, not to mention the impressive stunts-especially where J jumps from the top of a skyscraper to time travel to 1969.

Thrown into the mix this time is Emma Thompson as Agent O, and whose mysterious relationship with K (Tommy Lee Jones) arouses J’s (Will Smith) suspicions.
Also in the cast is Josh Brolin, as young K. who delivers Jones’ dry mannerisms to perfection.   After the deadly alien Boris ‘the Animal’ (Jemaine Clement) escapes from the high security prison on the Moon intent on killing Agent K, Agent J travels back in time with the help of nerdy gadgets man Jeffrey (Michael Chernus), to MiB’s early years in 1969.
He plans to try and stop Boris from murdering the young Agent K (Brolin), who shot off his left arm during a major incident. With the assistance of the mysterious, time-warping Griffin (Michael Stuhlbarg), he plans to save Agent K and change history.
