St Kierans and Cappamore in provincial finals

-

The hurlers of St. Kieran’s and the footballers of Cappamore are both in Munster final action this coming weekend, with the provincial junior deciders taking place. St. Kieran’s take on Kildorrery of Cork in the Munster junior hurling final in Mallow this Sunday at 2pm.

The Ardagh club convincingly beat Kilsheelan-Kilcash from Tipperary in the Munster quarter-final before running out four-point winners over Kerry’s Kenmare Shamrocks in the semi-finals in Killarney.

Coincidentally it is Kenmare Shamrocks who will provide the opposition for Cappamore in the Munster junior football final, also being staged this Sunday in Mallow, at 3:30pm.

The east Limerick club got the better of Tipperary champions Borrisokane in the provincial quarter-finals and then defeated Clarecastle in the semi-final, beating the Clare men by five points.

If Cappamore can carry off the trophy, they will become the first Limerick team to win the Munster junior football title, and they will also arrest a four-year sequence of Kerry clubs taking the honours.

St. Kieran’s are hoping to follow in the footsteps of Blackrock, who were Munster junior hurling champions in 2009, the only Limerick club thus far to claim that title.
