A 22-year-old man has pleaded guilty to 11 counts of theft by deception after presenting cheques stolen from a postbag at shops and banks around Limerick city and county. Â Sean Leo of Kilballyowen, Bruff, was arraigned at Limerick Circuit Court this week after he admitted to the 11 charges preferred against him. A co accused, who is due in court next month, faces a further 20 similar charges.

The court heard that he presented almost €40,000 worth of stolen cheques to banks and business premises and was also charged with theft from three banks where stolen cheques were cashed to a total value of over €17,500.  Sentencing was adjourned until February 15 next and a co-accused is due before the court in January.
