Limerick welcomes first baby of New Year

A COUNTY Clare couple is celebrating the arrival of the first baby born in Ireland in 2013. Carmel McNamara and Charles Maples from Kilmihil, are the proud parents of baby Leo who was born at 12.01am in the Mid-Western Regional Maternity Hospital.

Leo, weighting just over three kilos, is the third child for Carmel and Charles who already have two little girls.

According to a hospital source baby and mum were said to be doing fine.
