Ireland Rugby Press Conference - Thursday 7th MarchTG4 to show all of Ireland’s international rugby matches in June

TG4 has confirmed that it will broadcast live and exclusive coverage of both of Ireland’s international rugby matches during next month’s North American tour (against USA and Canada) as well as providing live and exclusive coverage of the 2013 IRB Junior World Championship (Under-20 World Cup) from France.

Ireland’s senior international team will play the inaugural international match of the tour against the USA on Saturday 8th June at the BBVA Compass Stadium in Houston, Texas. One week later, the Irish team will play Canada at the BMO Field in Toronto.

The IRB Junior World Championship is an international rugby union competition organised by the International Rugby Board (IRB), the sport’s governing body. The championship is contested by the 12 qualifying nations’ teams with an under-20 age requirement. The inaugural tournament was hosted by Wales and held in June 2008. The Junior World Championship is the upper level of a new IRB tournament structure for U-20 national sides. South Africa is the current holder, having defeated New Zealand in last year’s Final.

The Irish channel will provide live coverage of all of Ireland’s Pool B matches in the 2013 Junior World Championships against Australia, New Zealand and Fiji, as well as live coverage of both semi-finals and the Junior World Cup Final.  TG4’s Rónán Ó Coisdealbha said: “We look forward to bringing these matches to TG4 viewers all over Ireland on free to view television and we are pleased that we are expanding the channel’s rugby portfolio which already includes rights to the Heineken Cup and the RaboDirect PRO12.”
