A FREE lecture on polar explorer Tom Crean will take place in Limerick City Library next Tuesday June 18. Michael Smith, the author of eight books, including ‘An Unsung Hero: Tom Crean’ will give the lecture which begins at 8pm. Smith has appeared on TV and radio and has lectured at Buckingham Palace, the Royal Geographical Society and the Scott Polar Research Institute, Cambridge. His biography of Tom Crean led to the story being incorporated into the schools’ national curriculum in Ireland.
