New helicopters for Shannon Search and Rescue

THE Irish Coast Guard’s Search and Rescue (SAR) base at Shannon received two state-of-the-art Sikorsky S-92 helicopters last Tuesday as part of a programme to replace the service’s existing fleet.

The Search and Rescue base at Sligo also took delivery of a third helicopter. Crews from Sligo and Waterford have been training with their Shannon colleagues over recent weeks.
