Limerick hosts Munster under 16 football tournament

Limerick U16F Team that played in the Munster U16F Woodlands Tournament 13.07.2013THE Munster under 16 football tournament took place across three Limerick venues recently, with all six counties in the province participating in the competition.

Mick Neville Park in Rathkeale, St Mary’s/Sean Finns GAA and Adare GAA played host to the eight teams, with Kerry and Cork both entering two teams. This year the finals took place on the same day, with Corcaigh winning the Shield and South Kerry prevailing in the Cup.

Limerick were defeated in the two matches in which they played, going down to Kerry North in the first round and then Cork in the Shield semi-finals. It was an action-packed day of quality football, with many of the players on show likely to feature at minor, under 21 or possibly even senior level for their counties.

The organisers gave thanks to tournament sponsors Fitzgerald’s Woodlands House Hotel in Adare, the Munster Council, the referees, the host clubs, pitch co-ordinators and anybody who helped in staging the tournament.
