This year’s competition has moved to accommodate the tremendous support and interest from the Limerick public who have been treated to spectacular entertainment in the previous four years of its existence.

Producer Mike O’Connor said: “We are looking forward to this year’s competition with great excitement and curiosity to see how the acts take to performing on the bigger stage at Lime Tree to see how they make the transition.”

Previous winners of the competition have gone on to make a big name for themselves, with inaugural winners Animal Beats touring America, Flawless dance troupe appearing on The Late Late Show and contortionist Daragh Merritt joining Fossett’s Circus. Mr O’Connor said that the variety of winners goes to show the diverse range of performers that take part in the Limerick’s Got Talent competition.

“We have dancers, singers, novelty acts and whatever, and this is the first time we’ve ever had an Irish dancer involved so we’re quite pleased with that. It’s quite a mixture. We’ve had people applying this year that are doing karate exposés.”

The final on Friday August 23 will be decided by a panel of judges, who will choose the overall winner in addition to category winners for best vocal, best band, best dance, best novely act and, new to 2013, best original song.
