THIS time of year is always busy when it comes to black tie events but as usual the popular Butterfly Ball in aid of the Mid Western Cancer foundation proved a great night with over 220 guests attending last Saturday 5’s fundraiser. Arriving guests enjoyed a champagne reception upstairs in Limerick Strand Hotel, mingling happily as they were serenaded by the Michael John Ryan String Quartet before heading downstairs for the main event.
Once again the high profile fundraiser delivered a first class line up of entertainment including music from The Guests and DJ Party Marty.
Professional photographer Michael Martin was there to capture the guests in their finest and other highlights included entertainment from James Sexton who hosted a fun game of bingo and raffle with some superb prizes. There were also gift bags for everyone.
Guest speakers at the event included consultant medical oncologist and director of cancer services at University Hospital Limerick Professor Rajnish Gupta and former principal turned author Kevin Haugh, who launched his book ‘An Imperfect Storm’ in aid of the foundation.
The book offers a first hand account of Kevin’s experience with cancer and his eloquent words on the night reminded everyone what a great event the Butterfly Ball is as it raises much needed funds for the Mid Western Cancer Foundation every year.
