Eight new routes, 300 jobs for Shannon

shannon airportRyanair has announced eight new routes out of Shannon airport, with the prospect of more than 300 jobs and 300,000 extra passengers through the airport each year.

The budget airline is adding Berlin, Paris, Fuerteventura, Warsaw, Faro, Munich, Nice and Krackow to the destinations it offers from Shannon. There will also be increased frequency on the existing Stanstead route.

In  typically flamboyant Ryanair fashion, the new routes were announced at a press conference at which ‘Santa” arrived to produce presents from a sack with the names of the new routes on each one.

Speaking at the conference, Chief Operating Officer, Michael Cawley said that the routed are part of a strategy by the airline to “keep our promise to deliver one million extra passengers if the travel tax was scrapped”.The routes can be booked from this week and flights will begin in April.
