Limerick’s Conflux Festival returns

THE Conflux Festival returns to Limerick this Saturday 16 . Following on the success of last year’s inaugural event this daylong music festival for children and adults that will take place at two venues and four stages in Limerick on Saturday November 16. This year’s event will showcase a diverse range of Irish, Scottish, Finnish and English musicians. 28 acts from all over Ireland and Europe are confirmed to play. Expect everything from kids events introducing the very young to the world of music and sound during the day to DJs, Electronic Artists’ and Black Metal for the bigger kids later that night.

Conflux Day will be a 3-4 hour Folk, Trad and Sean-nós session in the Blind Pig Bar from 2pm. It includes acclaimed Scottish Folk Songwriter Alasdair Roberts, Dublin Sean-nós female group Landless and many other besides.

Conflux Twilight will see the event return to the H-Q for an evening of the finest in Experimental Drones, Folk, Prog and Post Rock from Limerick, to Dublin, to Finland and beyond. Featuring UL Lecturer and Sound Artist Robin Parmar and his Infinite Viola Project, Psych-Folk/Drone Mysticists Woven Skull, as well as Finnish Kraut/Space Rocker Jani Hellen teaming up with Dublin’s own outer/inner space navigators the Jimmy Cake and much more besides!

The festival will conclude with a set of events in the Blind Pig over its three floors. Upstairs at Dr. Johns and in the main bar will see 8 DJ & Electronic Artists’ of the highest quality, from across the country playing a myriad of sounds and styles. From an exclusive Irish Electronica set from Futuresque, to the best in Irish Hip-Hop & Psychedelia from mynameisjOhn , to the rarest in global cuts & grooves via Cork’s esteemed DJ Jeremy Murphy. 2 of the Artist’s here will also be showcasing set performances of their own compositions; Willow Sea & E||||.

In the Basement the heavier portion of the day’s proceedings will commence with a mix of Metal and Heavy Rock from the likes of Limericks Jet Sol, Connemara Black Metallers Nimh Stil and Dublin’s awesome Ghost Trap amongst many others.
