LIMERICK trio, Bleeding Heart Pigeons are now signed to Virgin Records. Their debut EP will be released on December 16. The young band have been together over five years now but though the amount of live gigs they have played are few, for BHP it is a case of quality trumping quantity. They toured the UK last week with label mates Little Green Cars and supported Bell X1 at their recent Big Top Limerick gig. They first came to attention nationally playing an acoustic set on RTÉ’s Other Voices earlier this year.

‘Visiting Myself In Hospital’ is the lead track on the debut EP. A re-recording of the track that created a lot of interest on the blogs when the band uploaded demos to its Soundcloud account.

Bleeding Heart Pigeons are Mícheál Keating (vocals/guitar), Cathal Histon (synths, samples and vocals) and Brendan McInerney (drums). ‘Visiting Myself In Hospital’ is the band say, “an attempt to interrogate the psychology of Eric Harris”, one of the two killers involved in the 1999 Columbine High-School Massacre.

The EP is melodic, sweeping and inventive dream music. It is terrific stuff and well worth you time seeking it out.

Bleeding Heart Pigeons play Dolan’s on Friday December 13 and Bourkes on Thursday December 12 supporting Little Green Cars.
