LIMERICK will be the location for a new RTÉ show called ‘Teenage Kicks’. The first casting day for the new programme will be this Saturday February 8. The show scheduled to be televised in the Autumn will follow musician, and ‘Voice of Ireland’ coach, Bressie as he travels to the heart of Limerick for the sole purpose of putting together a music group made up of young people, aged 16 to 24 years of age.

“The main aim of ‘Teenage Kicks’ is to create a contemporary snapshot of the Irish experience of the people who live, work and play in Limerick’s everyday communities,” say the show producers ShinAwiL Productions.

The series will focus on people from Limerick City and its surrounding areas as Bressie assembles a band from the series of auditions taking place from February 8. Adam Byrne from Screentime ShinAwiL Productions told Limerick Post, “Bressie is taking on this challenge with a completely blank page. He has no preconceived notions about the type of band he wants to create. Therefore, he wants to see all types of musical talent, everything from  lead-singers, backing-singers, rappers, guitarists, drummers or any other type of musician are welcome to come along.

“Even those who feel they have little musical talent but have an interest in taking part in the show should come too.”

The Teenage Kicks casting day takes place in the Limerick School of Music, Mulgrave Street from 9am until 7pm on Saturday February 8.

Potential band members must be aged 16 to 24. Each casting session will last no longer than 10 minutes, singers must have one song prepared. Adam McGarry Byrne of Screentime ShinAwiL commented to Limerick Post that the entries are flying in for Teenage Kicks. “It’s interesting to see the diversity in people expressing interest too, everything from singer-songwriters to rappers, hard rockers to soulful R&B performers, so Bressie could really have hard time on his hands trying to narrow them all down.”
