Community activist Derek flies Labour flag in Limerick East

Derek MulcahytDEREK Mulcahy from Glasgow Park has been announced as a Labour candidate for Limerick East in the forthcoming local elections on May 23.

Mr Mulcahy, a peace commissioner, has run in two previous elections and is now determined to make it third time lucky. A community activist for 25 years, Derek works as a team leader at St Munchin‘s Community Centre in Kileely and firmly believes that “community comes first”.

“It’s not going to be easy but I am determined to get elected and represent the people to the best of my ability on Limerick Council, said Derek, a graduate in Community Development from the University of Limerick.

“As a father of three and grandfather of five, I know only too well the challenges facing families today. I am proud to have lived and raised my family in Limerick. I want to earn the trust and support of voters to make Limerick an even better place for all of us. Limerick needs strong determined councillors who will campaign on behalf of all, not vested interests,” he concluded.
